This Is Just the Beginning — Help Us Build It

"We built Down To Funk Festival as a community event, and we welcome everybody. Tell your friends!" That's the whole pitch, really. But it's worth saying more.

The Beginning, Even Though It Isn't

"This is the beginning," one of our founders said in the video. "This isn't really the beginning — there's been a lot of work done already. But this is the beginning in the sense that it's our announcement. It's the start of our journey with you, and with everybody else we want to be part of it."

An attendee. A lover of the music. A sponsor. Someone with a donation in kind, or a donation in cash. Right now, we need all the help we can get in the resource department — and we're not shy about saying it.

Spreading the Word Is Spreading Love

But it's not just about resources. It's about love — giving it, not just getting it.

"We need to give love, and how we do that is by spreading the word," they said. "The best thing every single person who sees this video can do is tell their friends about it. And maybe even more importantly — tell their enemies about it too. Because they'd probably have fun."

That's the invitation. Not a narrow one, not a guest list. Everybody's welcome — friends, strangers, even the people you don't get along with. If they love music, they belong here.

So: tell someone. Tell everyone. That's how this gets built.
